This lovely illustration is from the book Menuet de Bonheur by Egusa Kanoko. I started this one some time ago and really wanted to complete it before the end of the year. I love this book, the artwork is gorgeous and very whimsical. However, the paper is on the light side and doesn’t allow applying many layers. I used Polychromos Faber-Castell and Irojiten Tombow Coloured Pencils. Posca Pens for little details on the tree. Polys and Irojiten mix well and complement each other, I specially like to apply one light layer of Polychromos and spread the pigment with Irojiten pencils, to obtain a more interesting pastel tonality. I’m not very happy with the background, I find it a bit flat, but that’s ok 🙂 In the end, it turned out fine and I had a great time relaxing and colouring this page!
