The first thing that caught my attention was the square format of this book. Fantastic Cities is also a bit larger than most colouring books. (29 x 29.8 cm or 11 1/2 x 11 3/4”).
I was surprised with the detail and diversity of the drawings. I was also delighted to find out that all images are based on real cities and each name is printed along with the illustration. I love to be able to find photos of the pictured places to use as inspiration when colouring.
The paper has a white hue and good weight, thick enough. I would guess 80 lbs or 90 lbs. As for markers, I used different brands colouring one page and they didn’t bleed through. The illustrations are printed on both sides and have no margins or frames.
I really enjoyed the beautiful illustrations based on city views. There are also a few intricate mandalas that bring diversity to this book.
Fantastic Cities is fun, a surprising book with architectural illustrations showing a bird’s eye view of amazing places around the world.
